We are settling in to our new home here in Boise. Every day is sunny and hot. I love it. Jared is still working on unpacking and it seems like we go out every day to see more of Boise and pick up one more thing we need. Our house is super nice and way cheaper than what we had in Sitka. I still can't believe we are so blessed. White walls, vaulted ceilings, big rooms and sky lights in the bathroom. It is so bright here I don't even turn on the lights and those who know me understand what a miracle that is.
As soon as we moved in we celebrated Mason's second birthday. He got all of Jared's old cars, bubble wrap, a train toy box and a cute giraffe with stretch legs. With those and all his old toys being new he has been very busy. He is like a tornado and always playing with a new toy. For those who saw him throwing a fit at my mom's house--we have fixed that little problem and now he says he is sorry and gives kisses. We have also got him to clean up after himself occasionally. :) Next up: abc's, counting and staying in bed. We actually fixed the bed so he can't get out, but it is by no means the manufacturer's suggested use of the bed. The mattress is on the floor, the crib is in the corner and the low side is blocked by a dresser. We have the toy box and a bunch of blankets preventing him from coming out the bottom. Now we all sleep well, except Heidi who never sleeps.
Well, actually she does sleep. Yesterday, right after quiet time/nap time we went out and she was talking to us about the fighter planes we saw. Then all of a sudden it was quiet, we turned around and she was asleep. Ten minutes later, she says "look at the train....it is kind of like a train only it doesn't have cars." I have no idea what she was talking about--we were at a tree recycling place. In her defence I think she was still half-asleep. With those little cat naps she is prepared to stay up til 10 and wake up at 6 (in her own room).
Heidi and Mason love the newest addition to our family. Emmitt keeps us all pretty busy. At first the other two kind of struggled with it, but now that he is sleeping by himself and I can play with Heidi and Mason things seem to be getting better. Lets see--details about the birth. Two hours of labor, total. The nurse didn't believe me when I said the baby was coming soon. Finally she got the dr, but by then he almost missed the birth. It felt chaotic to me. Poor Emmitt was lying there on the bed (like I said the dr almost missed) and getting the umbilical cord cut before anyone bothered to look to see if he was a boy or girl. I missed Sitka at that point. However, the nurses were great and the rest of the stay was as great as a hospital stay can be. When they weighed Emmitt (8 lbs 5 oz) and measured him (21 in) I knew why it felt like I was going to burst that last month. He was much bigger than the other 2. On the plus side, he sleeps much longer already than the other 2 did. If only he wasn't up for a few hours every morning (4-6am is too early for me). He is doing great and with all the sun here has finally got rid of the jaundice he had. When we got him to the dr for a 2/3 week checkup he had already gained a lb. He is a pretty mellow baby, but can definitely make his wants known if he needs to. For the first time in my life, I am out numbered in my family and I am enjoying it.
