Getting Started

Wow! I hope this is as easy as it appears. I thought it would be a fun way to spend time, now that Heidi is bigger and playing a little more on her own. She loves the computer, especially the screen saver, which is a slide show of her. She claps her hands when it comes up. Unfortantly, she is also kind of demanding once the computer is on now. She loves to play with the things we use.
Today, we woke at 4:45 am. Curse the Alaska sun that comes up so early and makes the room light enough (despite blackout curtains) that she can stand there staring at me, yelling, and wondering why I don't come to the rescue when she is so obviously up. Finally got her asleep, 5 minutes before the alarm went off. Lucky me.
Heidi and I went to the Rec yesterday. We saw a lot of activity by tourist groups as they get ready for the season. One group was actually in dry suits and getting ready to go snorkeling. I don't think they actually made it in the water though, when we came back they were gone. We have a surf shop here too. Can you imagine? The water is so cold it can kill you if your dry suit leaks and there are rocks every where. The one beach in town that has sand is called "Sandy Beach" and it has maybe 100 ft when the tide is out. They surf in the stormy weather, when the waves are bigger. Anyway, I love hiking at the rec. It is not very far, but it has all the forest smells and sounds as well as the ocean smells and sounds. Heidi likes it too. We go out everyday we can.
