Living in a bubble

Hate to say it, but I don't really miss "civilization" that much. What brought that on? I saw a picture and article about Manhattan traffic. Yuck. Here, when I actually have to drive, traffic is seeing three cars at the four-way stop. There is really not a point in speeding--if you go 5 over you might get to your destination (assuming it is at the end of the road) maybe, maybe 2 secs sooner. We have cell phones, but they don't work out of the tower's sight, which just happens to be most areas outside of downtown. That means we are not constantly connected, always at everyone's beck-and-call. We can keep in touch with what is happening with the internet and cable, so we are not clueless up here. In fact we might be better informed because we make an effort to learn. Somehow though, it is hard to get excited over celebrity news when the whales are spouting in view of your window. :) Although, I do have to admit. We received this offer from National Geographic to buy the book 500 Places to Visit. I know, junk mail. But I had to look. I got so depressed looking at all these places to go and knowing I can't go to any of them for a long time. All vacation time and saved money goes towards our yearly visit home. Oh well!

We have company coming today, YEA!!! We are cleaning house and baking banana bread to get ready. I love baking. Jared swears I have a problem...complusive baking or something. Good thing we have the elliptical or there would be a problem...not being able to fit through the door. :0
